The WMC State Mathematics Contest is for middle and high school students. The 2024 math contest will be held during the week of March 4-8, 2024. Schools participate at their home sites, and each school chooses the day the team will participate in the contest.

The registration fee is $25 per school team. You will receive access to the Math Contest material via a shared Google Drive on or before March 1.

WMC Math Content General Information

• Schools participate at their home sites, and each school chooses the day the team will participate in the contest.
• All math contest materials will be sent via a shared Google Drive.
• The meet consists of five sets of problems. For each of the first four problem sets, each individual student will attempt to solve problems worth 1, 3, and 5 points, respectively. For the team problem set, all team members will work cooperatively to solve six problems, each worth 10 points. Check out past Math Contests for more details on these events.
• The time requirements are 15 minutes for each of the four individual events and 25 minutes for the team event.
• The school team advisor scores the individual events and all of the items on the team event. These results are returned to WMC via a shared Google Drive.
• Each school may enter one team. A team consists of eight students (all from the same school) consisting of no more than four seniors for high school teams and four 8th grade students for middle school teams.
• School enrollment is used to determine the appropriate class for each school as shown below. A school may compete in a higher classification upon request.

Contest Awards

Medals are given to individuals from top-scoring high school teams and ribbons to top-scoring middle school teams. Students with perfect scores will receive a medal. Top team and individual scores are announced at the WMC Annual Meeting in May.
